 Lightning
You will need: Paint Shop Pro 7.04 - You can get a trial
version here
Let's get started!
1. Open a new image 400 X 400, 16
million colors, and transparent background.
2. Change your
foreground color black #000000 and background set to null.
3. Flood
fill with color black (#000000).
3. Add a new layer, and change you
foreground color to white.
4. Start drawing out your main
lightning "fingers" using the draw tool set at these settings.

5. When you think you have enough this size change the
size to 1 and continue to draw out a few or as many as you want of the
smaller sized lines. This is how mine looks now.

6. Now here's the easy way to get a glow using only the
effects in PSP without having to retrace your lines.
First, you
need to go to your layer pallet and duplicate this layer.
7. Then
make your layer 2 active again.
8. Selections/Select
All/Float.
9. Selections/Modify/Expand 4.
10. Flood fill
with white.
11. Deselect.
12. Effects/Blur/Gaussian Blur
set at 4 or 5. I used 5.
13. Delete layer 1 (the black layer). And
then highlight the top layer or mine is called "copy of layer
2".
14. Layers/Merge/Merge Visible. That's it! Save it and or
Export as tube for future use or if you want to colorize your lightning,
just do the next two steps.
15. Colors/Adjust Brightness, Contrast
and use these settings: Brightness -109 and Contrast 30.
16.
Colors/Colorize Set at HUE 182 Saturation 255 for a pretty purple
lightning or play around and come up with a color you like.
Here's
a few I made.
