A note before we start. I would like to take this opportunity to say, my tutorials are nothing more than guides.
Let your own creativity come alive and never be afraid to change your mind.
That's what the delete and undo buttons are for!.....LOL
I also encourage you to choose your own colors and or patterns.

Now let's get started and have some fun!

Please remember to save often if your PSP locks up on a regular basis!

    1. Open a new image 100 X 100 Transparent Background
    2. Flood fill with white (#FFFFFF).
    3. Add a new layer and flood fill with a dark color of choice. I used #A70577.
    4. Selections/ Select all. ( Feather 0 ) ( Antialis unchecked )
    5. Selections/Modify/Contract 15.
    6. Selections/Invert selection and hit your delete key.
    7. Keep selected and invert your selection once again.
    8. Keep selected and and once again flood fill with a light color of your choice. I used #FEDEF5.
    9. Keep selected and go to Image/Rotate Image using these settings:
  • Left or Right, it don't matter for this.
  • Degrees: 45
  • All layers is unchecked.
    1. 10. Deselect.
      11. Apply Simple's Diamonds filter.
      12. Having fun yet? Effects/Blur/Motion_Blur and apply these settings:
  • Direction Angle 180
  • Intensity Pixels 40
    1. 13. Merge layers visible.
      14. Apply the Flaming Pear's Ornament filter.
      15. Apply the Simple's Quick Tile filter.
      16. This looks good but lets go a bit further.
      17. Apply Simple's Pizza Slice Mirror.
      18. Apply Simple's Diamonds.
      19. Apply Flaming Pear's Ornament two ( 2 ) times.
      20. Apply Simple's Quick Tile and TA DA! You're done!
      21. Now to test it, open a new 400 X 400 or what ever size and and set your background pattern to your newly made tile and flood fill it.
      22. Don't forget you can always apply Colors/Colorize or Colors/Negative Image or what ever else!
      23. I hope you enjoyed this background tut and learned that you can use a filter other than it was originally created to do.
